ALL ORGANIC
The entrepreneurs, applying a total-organic production methods, are to market
their produce under the brand name of ORIO to the world. The entrepreneurs are
going to invest in organic almond production in a land of 50 sqm. leased from
the Ministry of Forestry in Çeşme.
Yağmur Kınay, Orio Organic Coordinator, stated that he and his brother-in-law,
Aydin Eraydin, a captain pilot, had decided to invest in olive oil industry two
years ago. Having stated that they had purchased a field for this purpose, Kınay
mentioned that they had been looking for a suitable field and leased a land of
780 sqm for a period of 150 years. He also stated that Eralp Demirarslan, a
captain pilot at Pegasus Airlines, and his brother Alper Demirarslan, who owns a
private hospital in Istanbul, along with Aydin Eraydin also working for Pegasus
Airlines joined them to set up ORIO ORGANIC company. They forested the field by
spending over a million TL worth of investment.
Stating that he has been very much interested in olive production since his
childhood, Kınay proudly expresses that he has realized his biggest dream.
“Together with the other 4 entrepreneurs, who are also successful in their
profession, we reclaimed a land which had been standing uncultivated for
centuries.” said Kınay.
We had to bear a lot for expenses;
"Our goal is to produce organic olive oil. In order to reach our goal, we have
not avoided any expenditure. We leveled the rough area and built a 10 km. road
inside the field, prepared tags to identify each tree in order to produce at a
standard quality. We did not use any agricultural chemicals, nor do we allow any
detergents to be used inside the field. Workers wash their hands using
olive-oil-soaps. We shall build a pressing plant on a suitable place in the
field. Olives, picked freshly from the branches of the trees, will become olive
oil in 2 hours through the Cold-Pressing technique. We shall have a high-quality
olive oil. We will also let our foreign visitors taste our olive oil in the
tasting centre to be built in the entrance of the field.”
Kınay, stating that they plan to harvest the first crop in 2011, emphasized that
they have already started working to market their product. He pointed out that
they will be participating in the food fairs in Southeast Asia, Russia and
England in 2010, which Kınay mentioned as their target markets.
